Day 4- Everything Will Be Alright

This quote pretty much got me through eighth grade. I was listening to my Pandora radio when this song came on. I guess that it might have been a rough day. People were mean and sometimes it no one at school seemed to care about anything. As you well know, I am a passionate person, so that was a problem. This whole song is about rising out of where you are and remembering that it’ll all end up well in the end, even if it doesn’t seem like it. Choose to be happy where you are, and you will.

Day 3- Choose to Change

This is another one of my favorite quotes. It implies that you don’t have to be anyone in particular to change the world. The Do Hard Things mentality truly shines in this quote. With organization and motivation anyone can change the world however they choose to. What will you choose to change?

Day One

So I haven’t read the book (On The Road) that this book belongs to, and that’s okay. I am a very passionate person and when I’m into something, I’m all in. This quote describes how I am (I love being around other passionate people “The only people for me…”) and who I hope to be. This quote is very uplifting in the fact that it encourages people to revel in their passionate selves.

Day Two

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” Paul the Apostle, 1 Timothy 4:12

This is my favorite Bible verse at the moment, and it helps me think about what I’m thinking about (and saying) because goodness knows it’s hard to set an example for speech when, to quote Taylor Swift, “…all you want is to be wanted…” Another translation, NKJV, says “don’t let people despise your youth,” and that reminds me that when I get older and want to do something real and important with my life that people will want to look back at what I did. If I make bad choices and set negative examples as a teen, then people will assume I will follow that pattern, even if I’ve changed.

180 Days of Positive!

Dear reader, I, Caroline, I’m starting high school. Actually I started yesterday, but that’s beside the point. Some times at school I struggle to stay positive (imagine that) and so I’ve decided that each day this year I’m going to post a positive quote from a book, movie, song, turtle, or my brain and possibly what it means to me. I didn’t get around to it yesterday, and I’m busy right now, but I’ll post today and yesterday’s quotes!

Help Miroslav Get Adopted

First of all, I’m Caroline and this is my blog. Duh. From my whatever I happen to have at my fingertips at the moment I will update you on what God is doing with me and my family and where he’s taking us.

Anyway, I recently read Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris. Do Hard Things is about The Rebelution: “a teenage rebellion against low expectations—a worldwide campaign to reject apathy, embrace responsibility, and do hard things.” I got all fired up to do my own hard thing, but couldn’t think of anything. Today, I found THIS POST by McKennaugh Kelley and thus uncovered my first hard thing. It’s not particularly hard, doesn’t cost any money, and will take very little time, but it’s a start and will get something done in the world. It will make a difference for Miroslav, a Ukrainian boy in an orphanage who has been abandoned. Miroslav has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and Our goal is to help get him adopted.
